Trustees
- Ultimate legal accountability for safeguarding (Charity Commission expectation, irrespective of operational delegation)
- Approve the safeguarding policy annually
- Receive the NSB annual report and any Serious Incident escalations
- Ensure adequate resourcing (DBS budget, training, staffing of NSB and regions)
- Appoint the National DSL on recommendation of the NSB
- Sign off any decision to remove a volunteer for safeguarding reasons (jointly with National DSL)
- File Serious Incident Reports with the Charity Commission where threshold met
- All trustees: enhanced DBS check, trustee safeguarding training every 3 years
- One named Lead Safeguarding Trustee acts as the board’s safeguarding champion and sits on (or attends) the NSB
